Curb Your Sugar Craving With A Greek Yogurt Parfait

Believe it or not, this recipe for Greek Yogurt Parfait is super healthy and satisfying, but sweet enough to be called dessert. That means this delicious treat will help you out when you want a quick breakfast, a satisfying snack or anytime you want to curb a sugar craving!

With over 18g of protein per cup, depending on the brand, and at least 20 percent of your daily value of calcium, greek yogurt is a snack that will keep you felling fuller, longer. You just have to watch out for the sugar – some greek yogurt brands spike as high as 29 grams per cup! That much sugar can decrease energy and will eventually work against your weight-loss efforts.

The solution: go for plain, 2% greek yogurt that skips the extra sugar and extra calories. You don’t need the sweetness anyway when you layer that creamy goodness into a parfait with fruit, honey and fiber-rich grains, such as granola.

The great part about this quick meal is that you can make it ahead of time for those days when you have to hit the road early and don’t want to mess with breakfast. And as good as it tastes, it’s hard to believe it’s a healthy breakfast!

It just takes 4 ingredients: greek yogurt, cut-up fruit of your choosing, honey and granola. For a really healthy yet surprisingly delicious granola, try RAW brand Live Granola with juicy raisins, buckwheat, dates and flaxseeds. You can also toss nuts in the parfait like walnuts or sliced almonds for an extra hit of protein and nutrients.

Here’s the recipe for a simple Greek Yogurt Parfait:

– 1 cup plain, 2% greek yogurt

– 1/2 cup granola

– 1 cup mixed fresh berries (such as raspberries and blueberries)

– 2 teaspoons honey

Directions: Scoop 1/2 cup of greek yogurt into the bottom of a bowl or large cup. Top with 1/4 cup of granola and 1/2 cup berries. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon of honey. Repeat to make another layer using the  remaining ingredients. Grab a spoon and enjoy!
